Teknek launches coater web cleaning solution
Teknek has launched the latest version of its XCHP contact web cleaning unit for coating and lamination applications. The system is able to remove dust and loose contaminants from a web, penetrating the boundary layer to remove particles as small as one micron.
The compact XCHP can be configured for both single and double sided cleaning at any angle, so can be situated in-line with most coating and laminating processes.
The contact-cleaning concept is based on an elastomer roller rotating in contact with the substrate. This high surface energy roller removes the particulate contamination from the substrate, transferring it to a high coat weight reverse wound adhesive roll where it is trapped. When the outer layer of the adhesive is covered, it is simply removed and discarded.
As the web rotates the roller, there is no scratching of the filmic substrate, no requirement to match speeds with motors, and no need for the use of chemicals. Having been cleaned by the roller, the web passes through static removal bars to eliminate any charge in the film.
