The SmartGap adjustable anvil allows adapting the cutting depth precisely to different liner thicknesses, so that even with demanding applications and very thin liners optimum die-cutting results are achieved. Wink has further optimized and extended the SmartGap system and will show all versions in live demos at the show.

The new SmartGap Advance has been developed as the basic version of the system. Thanks to high-precision eccentric technology, smallest adjustment steps are possible, while maintaining the stability of the SmartGap system even at high speeds. The Advance can easily be upgraded to the digital SmartGap Touch, which was a finalist at this year's Global Label Industry Awards.

On the first day of the show, the new SmartGap AutoControl ‘attracted the crowds’, said the company. The extension of the Touch version marks the next step towards automation. A specially developed sensor bar continuously monitors the die-cut material on the web. If the cutting is not deep enough, labels are pulled up with the waste matrix. The system detects these missing labels and reacts within fractions of a second if a threshold value is exceeded. The cutting depth is then automatically increased until the die-cutting result is perfect again. At the same time, AutoControl offers a configurable control function against cutting too deep to prevent damage to the liner material.

In addition, Wink is presenting various SuperCut flexible die versions and surface treatments for a wide range of label applications, and a concept for new lightweight magnetic cylinders saving up to 80 percent of weight.
