Nyco installs VSOP combination press

European lids and shrink sleeves manufacturer Nyco has increased its capacity with the purchase of a hybrid printing press to complement its existing extensive range of gravure and UV flexo printing presses. 

The Swiss firm, part of the international Clondalkin Group, has invested in a 5-color Drent Goebel VSOP combination press, aimed at offering its shrink sleeve and wrap-around label customers greater production efficiency and flexibility.  

The new printing press will be used by Nyco to produce full surface and reverse shrink sleeves and wrap-around labels for its customers in the dairy, confectionery, fresh foods and beverage and pharmaceutical markets. The combination printing press features five UV offset units, one UV flexo unit and one gravure unit. The press runs at 300 meters per minute. 

Nyco general manager Christian Steeb said: ‘This investment provides us with even faster turn-around on work for our customers while elevating our high-quality finish capability to totally new levels of excellence. The new combination press has shorter set up times and allows for more efficient format changes, as well as giving us increased flexibility to support our extensive press combinations.’
