DuPont Cyrel marks 25 years of Fast thermal processing

DuPont Cyrel Flexographic will celebrate a quarter-century of innovation at Europe's leading labels and packaging event.

DuPont Cyrel Flexographic will use Labelexpo Europe 2025 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Fast thermal processing system while showcasing the latest innovations to labels and packaging converters.

From September 16-19, 2025, the Cyrel team will demonstrate its flexographic technologies at booth 5D47 in Hall 5 of the Fira Gran Via convention center in Barcelona. The company will feature the DuPont Cyrel Fast 1000 TD system at the heart of its display alongside '25 Years of Fast' celebrations.

'With the DuPont Cyrel Fast 1000 TD at the heart of our display, we're excited to meet with Labelexpo attendees and present the future of flexo innovation alongside our 25 Years of Fast celebrations,' said Jan Scharfenberg, business leader for EMEA with DuPont Cyrel Flexographic. 'From booth 5D47 in Hall 5 of the Fira Gran Via convention center, Barcelona, we will showcase how the innovative Fast system, our entire range of flexo technologies and a number of exciting partnerships benefit customers across the tag and label industry and beyond.’

The Cyrel Fast 1000 TD system uses dry, thermal technology to process high-quality Cyrel photopolymer plates, eliminating the need for solvent and enabling sustainable flexographic plate processing.

'Building on our legacy of developing customer-driven technologies, the Fast 1000 TD is designed with customer needs in mind,' added Scharfenberg. 'It is easy to install, support, maintain and operate, while at the same time being incredibly robust, extremely cost-effective and reliable.'

Scharfenberg emphasized that Fast technology has enabled tag and labels businesses to increase productivity and achieve designs faster, cleaner and more consistently for 25 years. The thermal processor simplifies operations and makes it possible for businesses to achieve shorter runs and quick turnarounds on various substrates while minimizing the environmental footprint of platemaking operations.

The DuPont Cyrel Fast system can reduce platemaking time by up to 75 percent while the dry, solvent-free process eliminates the need to handle, distil and dispose of washout fluids. Relative to a solvent workflow, VOC emissions are reduced by 99.8 percent and the global warming potential is reduced by 48 percent.

'We're excited to be bringing our innovations to one of the largest events in the European calendar,' commented Scharfenberg. 'We're looking forward to demonstrating just why the thermal processor is named Fast - because of how quickly it can provide the first plate. By enabling busy platemakers to maximize throughput, Cyrel Fast allows even the highest volume operations to keep the presses going longer, faster and more sustainably.'

The continued success of Fast thermal technology, with more than 1,500 installations worldwide, demonstrates the ongoing innovation and dedication that have ensured the Cyrel Fast platemaking process has been continually improved and fine-tuned to meet changing demands since its launch at the turn of the millennium.
