DuPont opens Cyrel Technology Center in Poland

DuPont Packaging Graphics has opened the first DuPont Cyrel Technology Center at the campus of Warsaw University of Technology in Poland to allow close collaborate to address the increased demand for flexible and corrugated printing.
Tomasz Nojszewski, sales manager for DuPont Cyrel in North Central Europe, said: ‘Not only has DuPont donated the equipment for the laboratory, but working with a team around Jacek Kuśmierczyk, owner of Grafikus Systemy Graficzne, DuPont will also provide training and educational lectures for students in DuPont Cyrel FAST Technology.’
The DuPont Cyrel FAST flexographic system is a complete plate production solution, consisting of a family of Cyrel plates and sleeves, supported by complementary DuPont equipment for UV exposure, processing and finishing. The DuPont Cyrel FAST workflow has been developed in alliance with leading flexo trade shops and printers around the world. It uses a dry thermal technology for plate and sleeve processing, completely eliminating conventional chemical solvents and aqueous washout solutions.
In addition to its environmental benefits, DuPont said the system offers a faster, cleaner and more cost-effective solution to flexographic plate production for a wide range of packaging applications, including tag, label and flexible packaging.
Piotr Gill, general manager, DuPont Poland, said: ‘Collaboration with Warsaw University allows DuPont to bring practical, real world flexographic printing technologies directly into the classroom. Our development strategy is based on global joint efforts with different stakeholders, and academia is one of the most important groups. Together we can achieve much more than any one of us can alone.’
Dr Jerzy Petriaszwili, director of the Institute of Mechanics and Printing at Warsaw University of Technology, said: ‘We are the oldest University in Poland in terms of education in printing technology and packaging and we pay a lot of attention to innovations including advances in DuPont Cyrel FAST Technology. We are very grateful that DuPont responded to our development needs, as the interest of our students in expanding their practical knowledge is extremely high. Additionally, other foreign universities, such as in Ukraine and Belarus, are also planning to send their students to our new lab for training.’
Nojszewski added: ‘We look forward to meeting and training more than 70 students of the Institute of Mechanics and Printing at Warsaw University of Technology every year. As a former student, I know how important practical skills are for these future printing specialists. DuPont is very pleased to be a part of this collaboration.’
