Benson to showcase best in carton with beauty brand

- Various prints, finishes and designs to be shown
- To be shown at Packaging Innovations and Pharmapack
UK carton printer Benson Group is to use the imagined Benson Beauty brand to physically illustrate the role of print for packaging.
Benson Beauty will form part of Benson’s presence at two forthcoming tradeshows, the UK’s Packaging Innovations and Pharmapack in Paris, France.
Benson will be showcasing a collection of innovative carton products, typical of the selection that many healthcare brands might need to produce, to show some of the print effects and post-press options that Medica Packaging, and Benson Group as a whole, can bring to a packaging solution.

The Benson Beauty collection of packs have been produced to show off a number of print finishing methods. Items have been created in 877 silver in conjunction with a Pantone 622 special green color wash.
Satin varnish provides the overall soft and luxurious touch to the cartons, whilst a spot gloss effect to the large butterfly in the background illustrates the way in which detail can be highlighted on the carton.
Foiling, from FRIP Finishing adds the finishing touch to a brand name or company logo.
In a simpler package, another product has been printed with a straight three-color process, combined with the Pantone 622 special green. Again, satin varnish is used to give a tactile element to the carton, with a spot gloss effect to the large butterfly in the background to significantly enhance shelf appeal. Foiling is again used for aesthetic shelf appeal.
Thirdly, silver is again the background ink, with the special Pantone 622 green ink color wash. A luxurious feel soft touch all over varnish is used, and is enhanced by foiling.
Similar to one previously mentioned finish, the fourth option is again printed with a straight three-color process, combined with Pantone 622 special green. Again soft touch varnish is used to give a tactile element to the carton, with foiling used to highlight the graphic details.
Foiling for effect
Foiling has been applied by FRIP Finishing using a range of satin and gunmetal foils to highlight graphics or text on the carton. This illustrates the fine level detail that can be achieved using foil blocking.
A fluted gunmetal effect has been applied to each of the small Benson Beauty butterfly logos to really highlight it on pack. An embossed cluster of detail has also been applied to the back of some of the cartons.
Designs
To help show the range of pack designs that can be created, and the ways in which you can increase the pack’s visibility, one of the cartons in the range has a more rigid pick-and-place window, whilst two others incorporate flexible windows. There is also a seven-panel carton to showcase Medica’s design and production capabilities. This has been produced by printing 877 silver behind a Pantone 622 color wash, finished with a drip-off matte/gloss varnish.
Commenting on the creation of Benson Beauty, Nikki Clark, marketing manager at Benson Group, said: ‘Our sales team were keen to have another way to showcase some of the excellent effects and finishes that can be applied to a printed carton.
‘Standard product literature and samples are fine, but it is just so much better to hand a prospect a real, live sample – a carton that they can feel, hold, open and close.
‘The Benson Beauty range really does give potential customers a hands-on experience to discover some great print effects.’
