Mactac supplies PS materials for comic strip stamps

The United States Postal Service (USPS) recently commemorated five newspaper comic strips through the introduction of its new Sunday Funnies stamps. Mactac supplied the pressure-sensitive adhesive label materials for the 80 million, 44-cent stamps issued.

The stamps, which were dedicated at a ceremony at The Ohio State University, honor several classic comic strip characters, including Sgt Orville Snorkel and Beetle, from Beetle Bailey; Calvin and Hobbes; Veronica, Archie and Betty from Archie; Garfield and Odie, from Garfield; and Dennis, from Dennis the Menace. The stamp images were selected by art director Ethel Kessler.

‘These newspaper comic strips are indeed enduring classics, and Mactac is proud to have played a role in honoring them through these commemorative stamps,’ said Allison Hazel, marketing manager, Mactac Printing Products. ‘Supplying the adhesive gave us the opportunity to join in celebrating the comics that have brought so much laughter to American households for decades.’

The stamps can be purchased online at www.usps.com/shop and at local post offices.

Mactac has been a qualified supplier for USPS stamps for more than seven years.
