Metsä increases folding boxboard capacity
- Two sheet cutters at Äänekoski mill provide extra sheeting capacity in response to growing demand

- Gohrsmühle mill to open Express Board service center for all folding boxboard grades later in 2012

Metsä Board can now provide more folding boxboard in sheets for customers after increasing its capabilities at its Äänekoski mill.

Äänekoski mill
Two sheet cutters at its Äänekoski mill are now dedicated to providing extra sheeting capacity, initially 70,000tpa but with further potential for growth.

The Äänekoski mill’s products, Carta Integra and Carta Solida, are designed for high quality packaging and graphics.

The Ӓänekoski sheeting plant will process some of the increased folding boxboard capacity at the mill, following the board machine rebuild completed earlier in 2012, and partially replace outsourced sheeting.

Gohrsmühle mill
In addition, the Gohrsmühle mill in Germany will open a new Express Board service center for all Metsä Board’s folding boxboard grades later in September 2012.

The sheeting capacity at Gohrsmühle will be 60,000tpa, also with the potential for future expansion.

Markku Romano, responsible for cartonboard sales in Europe and MEA at Metsä Board, said: ‘We recognize the growth in demand for our sheeted folding boxboard and as a result have developed our operations at both Äänekoski and Gohrsmühle.’
