WS Packaging adds flexibles to portfolio

- Offering wide range of flexible substrates to customers
- Brand managers can use flexible packaging to revitalize their product image
North American printing and label convertering specialist WS Packaging has started offering flexible packaging as a way for its customers to differentiate their brands from the competition.
WS Packaging offers a range of printing solutions, including folding cartons, labels, coupons and booklets, signage and specialty products, and has added flexible packaging to increase its capabilities.
According to the Flexible Packaging Association, flexible packaging is the second largest packaging segment in the US, garnering 19 percent of the packaging market.
Substrate range
Flexible substrates WS Packaging offers include single-ply barrier and heat seal films, and paper-faced and film-faced laminated pouches. Download the WS Packaging flexible packaging product sheet here.
The wide range of available substrates will enable WS Packaging to build customized flexible packaging constructions for its customers. For example, sub-surface printable base stocks and clear laminating films are key components that can be easily mixed and matched to meet varying needs.
Base stocks provide barrier and sealant layers with the ability to protect the print using polyester or oriented polypropylene films.
Different applications
The company said the new flexible packaging line offers a wide range of products for a variety of markets and end-use applications, from easy-to-convert paper-faced pouching materials for dry foods and powdered ingredients such as soup or drink mixes, to film-faced pouching products with optimal barrier and sealability characteristics for snacks, coffee, wipes, lotions, liquids and pet food.
In addition, the flexible packaging line offers paper and film-faced lidding for dry, powdered and liquid applications.
WS Packaging director of marketing Mark Moorhead said: ‘Flexible packaging allows us to further leverage packaging as a primary point of differentiation for our customers’ brands, and to accomplish such with speed and versatility.
‘Brand managers can use flexible packaging to revitalize their product image with longer shelf-life, better taste, product safety, convenience and portability.'
Market strategies
He added: ‘These materials enable our customers to leverage speed-to-market strategies tied to line extensions, allowing them to stay ahead of their competition.
‘Innovative package design is increasingly influencing consumers when it comes to in-store purchasing decisions.
‘Flexible packaging delivers the convenience needed by today’s “grab-n-go” lifestyles. Coupled with a broad range of materials and converting properties, flexible packaging creates the recognition brand owners and consumers trust.’
