Rose City Label awarded LIFE certification
Rose City Label has become the latest label printer to achieve LIFE certification from TLMI.

The Label Initiative for the Environment (LIFE) program was developed in order to assist TLMI members to find cost effective ways to reduce their environmental footprint.
LIFE is a program designed specifically for the narrow web marketplace and addresses four key elements of the narrow web printing and converting industry: clean production, energy and greenhouse gases, product and environmentally preferable materials, and management practices.
Rose City Label is the 49th facility to achieve TLMI LIFE certification.
Scott Pillsbury, president of Rose City Label, said: ‘Project LIFE was a challenging, rewarding process for our company.
‘As a small converter, we didn't have many of the written policy letters required for the program, so we had to create all of these documents. We pride ourselves on not having many written policies or standing meetings, so this was a bit of a change to our normal operating methods.
‘It was valuable, however, to formalize and document some of these company values and management practices.
‘On the very positive side, the program forced us to pay more attention to our waste and energy usage and share this information with all employees on a regular basis. Keeping this data in front of all our team members will help us reduce our waste as well as reminding everyone how important this goal is to our company. This formalized monitoring and sharing will probably be the best long term positive result of Project LIFE for our company.’
