Trespaphan sale creates global PP player

Celanese AG, which demerged from Hoechst in 1999, has sold its Trespaphan BOPP films business to a consortium led by Dor Film International, the holding company of the Moplefan Group of companies and Shorko (Australia).

The transaction has now been completed following the receipt of regulatory approvals. The value of Trespaphan as agreed with Celanese was approximately Euro 200 millions, the current annual turnover of the company is about Euro 500 millions and it employs around 2,200 people.

The company’s production facilities - capable of producing the full range of PP films - are located in Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Mexico, South Africa and Australia. The combined entity of Moplefan, Shorko and Trespaphan has a total of over 250,000 tons/year of Polypropylene films production capacity, representing about 10 per cent of global consumption.
