A-Z Color installs EyeC systems
Polish converter achieves near-zero defect rate with automated inspection for pharmaceutical labels.
Polish label converter A-Z Color has implemented EyeC quality control systems across its production facility, achieving a near-zero defect rate over several years of operation.
With over 30 years of experience, A-Z Color specializes in self-adhesive labels, heat-shrink labels and flexible packaging at its facility in Antonie near Ostrołęka. The family-owned company with over 90 employees manufactures products for customers in the cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical industries throughout Europe.
'Our priority has always been to deliver products that meet our customers' high expectations. However, in a dynamic market that does not forgive mistakes, ensuring absolute reliability at every stage of production was a real challenge,' stated Katarzyna Zecer-Gołaszewska, partner at A-Z Color.
A-Z Color evaluated various quality control systems before selecting EyeC. While competing systems failed in areas critical to the pharmaceutical industry, EyeC systems reliably detected even the smallest deviations.
‘When selecting the right product, it is not only the technology and price that matter to us, but also the quality of cooperation,’ emphasized Zecer-Gołaszewska. ‘We need partners who understand our requirements, share our quality standards and provide us with reliable support in our daily production. An evaluation of various quality control systems, taking into account pharmaceutical requirements and GMP guidelines, allowed us to make a clear decision: while competing systems failed in areas critical to the pharmaceutical industry, EyeC systems reliably and consistently detected even the smallest deviations.’
The company installed the EyeC Proofiler 600 DT off-line scanner system to check print patterns, while EyeC ProofRunner Web in-line systems provide 100 percent inspection on the label printing line. The systems are equipped with pixel-accurate comparison algorithms that detect deviations of 0.1 millimeters and enable real-time analysis at full production speed.
After two weeks of technical preparation, three ProofRunner Web systems were installed, calibrated and tested in a single day. The systems were immediately put into production mode following operator training.
What began in 2019 as a targeted application in pharmaceutical labels has become a company-wide standard. Today, five EyeC ProofRunner systems operate virtually around the clock, with the most recent installation completed in 2025.
In several years and thousands of production orders, only one defective printing template was produced. After joint analysis, system parameters were adjusted and since then the error rate has been zero.
The investment has transformed A-Z Color from a standard supplier to a preferred supplier for leading pharmaceutical companies, with top audit ratings, extended framework agreements and a growing number of orders.
'In an industry where a single missing point can mean the difference between success and failure, EyeC is our life insurance,' Zecer-Gołaszewska concluded.
