IML drives popcorn relaunch
Big Bear Confectionery, one of the UK’s leading independent confectionery manufacturers, has selected a protective shoulder container from RPC Containers Oakham for the relaunch of supermarket chain Spar’s 2.5l popcorn tubs, with the decorative options offered by in-mold labeling (IML) a decisive factor in its decision.
In addition to helping ensure a standout presence on shelf with the use of IML, the white tubs – injection-molded in polypropylene – also come with tamper evidence as standard. A fitted handle is attached to the strengthening collar for added consumer convenience.
Mark Seddon, general sales manager at RPC Containers Oakham, said: ‘We are continuing to see a growth in the use of IML for confectionery because of the advantages it presents – eliminating the need for a secondary decoration process and reducing both scrappage rates and work-in-process.
‘It also delivers a more eye-catching design than a simple printed label.’
