Cartes backs wine design

Embellishment specialist links designers, materials makers and converters.

Cartes has served as a technology partner for Il Vino Cambia Forma (Wine Changes Shape), an exhibition of 35 wine packaging and label design projects by Spazio Di Paolo presented during Milano Wine Week 2026, as the Italian converting and embellishment technology maker builds links between designers, materials suppliers and converters.

Cartes chief marketing officer, Enrica Lodi, joined a panel at the event, moderated by agency founder Mario Di Paolo, on dialogue between the creative and manufacturing worlds. The two companies have worked together on high-end labels conceived by Di Paolo and produced by Cartes and its partners through repeatable, scalable processes. Spazio Di Paolo has offices in Italy, Napa Valley and Reims, in Champagne. Customers and partners including Amonn Print, FE Group, Multistampa, Perruccio, Prismart, SanFaustino Label, Seriprint and Tikedo attended the gala evening, alongside Labelys, KURZ and its Italian partner Luxoro, which sponsored the event.

'When a creative idea pushes the boundaries of technology, it presents a new challenge for our research and development team. Our role is to turn these ideas into practical results. That is why we champion relationships between people with different areas of expertise, who exchange perspectives, challenge one another and experiment together,' said Lodi.

Cartes also points to converters that have invested in its technology. Paragon Label in California has chosen Cartes Gamini laser technology for intricate wine labels, and WIR in Germany has invested in the GT360 platform with Jet D-Screen to expand its digital embellishment. LP2i Étiquettes in France has opted for a hybrid system that integrates several processes, and Graficas Tomelloso and Etiquel in Spain and Portugal each run several Cartes lines.

Cartes supports industry awards, including the Vinitaly Design Award. In 2026 the 'Oro del Sol' label, created with Basile ADV, was recognized at both the Vinitaly Design Award and the FSEA Gold Leaf Awards, where eight further labels won in various categories, in projects involving FE Group, Sovemec, Multistampa, Brazicolor, Seriprint and Tonutti & Alliance Etiquettes. Cartes says wine remains a key sector, but it is also exploring other areas of packaging.
