Quantum invests in Fujifilm J Press FP790

Quantum Flex Pack, based in Rockford, Illinois, has purchased a Fujifilm J Press FP790 digital flexible packaging press. This represents the sixth J Press FP790 sale globally since the product’s launch, and the first in the Americas.

Fujifilm’s installation of the J Press FP790 at Quantum’s plant began earlier this month.

Features of the J Press FP790 include competitive production speeds with no make-ready and changeover downtime, as well as a print speed of 164ft/min with a maximum substrate width of 31 inches, irrespective of the ink colors. The press provides 1200X1200DPI resolutions with CMYK inks. It achieves Pantone colors without more costly spot color inks, while using two white ink channels for delivering high white opacity. The press also delivers 1200X1200DPI resolution with water-based inks.

It includes an integrated inspection tower for real-time quality control. Its ultra-high quality and wider gamut print quality make it possible to convert or work in collaboration with analog flexo and rotogravure jobs. It fits into existing flexible packaging production processes.

Fujifilm employs water-based primers and inkjet technologies, improving sustainability. The J Press FP790 also produces less waste and uses fewer consumables compared to traditional analog production of a similar nature.
