Siegwerk sets 2030 sustainability targets

Ink maker launches updated agenda with eight measurable goals across its value chain.

Siegwerk has launched HorizonNOW 2030, an updated sustainability agenda setting eight measurable targets across procurement, operations and product innovation to be achieved by 2030.

Building on its HorizonNOW strategy introduced in 2021, the program is structured around three focus areas. On sustainable procurement, the company aims to reduce the number of high-risk suppliers by 95 percent and cut scope 3 emissions by 25 percent against a 2020 baseline. On operations, it targets a 60 percent reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions, a 10 percent reduction in waste relative to produced volumes, a total incident rate below 1.0 and female representation in leadership of 30 percent. On product innovation, it aims for 65 percent of products sold by volume to enable circular packaging, alongside a data-backed sustainable product assessment covering circularity, carbon footprint and product safety.

'Sustainability is an integral part of how we create value, which reinforces the competitiveness of our customers and partners,' said Nicolas Wiedmann, CEO of Siegwerk. 'HorizonNOW 2030 connects every step of our business to a sustainable packaging future and supports our ambition to grow responsibly while enabling holistic sustainable packaging innovation.'

The agenda forms part of Siegwerk's broader FORMULA 2030 strategic plan, which aims to integrate responsible practices throughout the value chain. The company recently received an EcoVadis Gold Medal and the EcoVadis Sustainability Achievement Award for Best New Program.

'HorizonNOW 2030 translates our sustainability ambition into clear priorities and measurable impact,' noted Alina Marm, head of global sustainability at Siegwerk. 'By sourcing responsibly, producing sustainably and developing products that enable circularity, we actively support our customers in making truly sustainable packaging a reality.'
