Delivered by APL Machinery of Faridabad, the exclusive distributor AMS UV LED curing technology in India, the two-module system is installed on a 40in Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102, with one 40in UV LED module installed after the white ink station, and a second stationed at the end of the press; this module handles curing of both CMYK and coating applications on METPET, PET and board substrates.

UV LED curing technology replaces conventional UV and IR systems, and AB Print Pack has experienced positive results since the change to UV LED technology. This includes lower energy use, with only 53kW required to run the press, the UV LED system and the air conditioning in the pressroom.

The printer added that customers no longer wish to have their products printed with conventional UV after seeing the output of its UV LED system, with UV LED cured inks described by AB Print Pack as, ‘brighter, glossier and more visually pleasing overall.’
