Imcopack fits Martin Automatic non-stop roll changing kit to new Nilpeter MO-4

Imcopack, one of Thailand’s leading packaging companies, has installed non-stop roll changers from Martin Automatic on its new Nilpeter MO-4 press in Bangkok.

The MBSF automatic splicer and LRD automatic transfer rewinder enable the press to run a variety of label and flexible packaging jobs without stopping, so resulting in lower waste and higher productivity. This is the second Nilpeter press to which Imcopack has fitted Martin Automatic technology, with the first time being to an MO-3 back in 2004.

The new Nilpeter press and Martin Automatic auxiliaries are designed for versatility in label and packaging products, including pressure-sensitive labels, in-mold label film from 30 microns and film/foil laminates.

Thanapat Phanratanamongkol, assistant director at Imcopack, said minimizing material waste is very important to the company. ‘The Martin Automatic equipment has enabled us to reduce our waste from an average of 4-5 percent down to 1.5-2.5 percent,’ he said. ‘Automatic splicing also eliminates around five minutes of downtime at each roll change, allowing us to run these presses at a faster average speed and nearly doubling the number of SKUs we can finish each day.’

With these productivity and waste improvements, the Martin Automatic splicer and rewinder deliver a return-on-investment (ROI) of less than 12 months. ‘We have grown Imcopack by being innovative and flexible. Investments in equipment like Martin Automatic roll changers help us to continue achieving the highest standards, pushing boundaries and delivering innovations that exceed our customers’ expectations,’ Phanratanamongkol concluded.
