Label Solutions adds second Xeikon with CX3

UK printer Label Solutions has become the latest company to sign up as a user of Xeikon's Cheetah technology after acquiring a CX3.

Label Solutions opened in 2001 manufacturing labels using flexo, semi-rotary and hot-foil print equipment. It moved into digital printing in 2011 when purchasing a Xeikon 3300 digital label press, alongside which the new press will run.

Malcolm Bunn, sales director at Label Solutions, commented: ‘Our label business has grown in line with our high expectations. We were very much reaching capacity on our existing Xeikon. We urgently needed the extra manufacturing capability that this new machine will give us, but on top of that the Xeikon CX3 is 30 percent faster than our other press, meaning that we can look to dramatically reduce lead times and still have capacity for new work.

‘Going forward, this investment in both equipment and people will help us to target and focus on new markets and new industries for our business.’

Benoit Chatelard, president, Flint Group Digital Solutions, visited Label Solutions to sign the deal on his first UK visit following his appointment.

Les Burden, Label Solutions managing director, said: ‘Following on from our proven success with the Xeikon 3300 we have chosen the Xeikon CX3 to expand further into the digital market. The additional capacity and increased speed will further enhance Label Solutions’ reputation for fast turnaround and high quality, essential in today’s growing market.

‘This purchase should be seen as a commitment to our existing customers, and potential new customers. We are now part way through an investment in excess of £1 million (US$1.4 million). For us to invest this amount of money demonstrates, I believe, our ambition and belief in the market place.’

In addition to its two Xeikon presses, Label Solutions continues to run flexo. ‘We believe that we can offer the best of both worlds to our prospects and customers,’ added Bunn. ‘Digital has certainly changed the label market considerably, but flexo still has a critical role to play for very long runs. There are certainly companies out there that need a supplier who can provide the best of both technologies.’
