COE begins rotary screen cylinder production in Stuttgart

Carl Ostermann Erben (COE) has begun production of cylinders for rotary screen printing at its Stuttgart site.

Holger Ostermann, COE CEO, said: ‘The Gallus Screeny digital screen printing plates, due to a digital workflow, guarantee the automatic manufacture of reliable and reproducible printing plates with high process reliability and always of the same quality.’

COE is a German producer of plates, sleeves and screens. It has sites in Bremen and Stuttgart, where 60 employees produce printing plates just-in-time, mainly for flexographic and letterpress printing. The company celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2016, as reported here.

The imaging of the printing plates is done using lasers, a pasting station then forms the cylinder screen. Manual steps and sources of errors, which can occur during conventional film exposure, are therefore excluded, according to the company.

For the production of its cylinder screen for narrow web label printing, COE uses screen printing plates manufactured by Gallus.
