'Congratulations to our head of R&D, Achim Grefenstein, and his team at our plant in Weiden, Germany,’ said Stefan Grote, executive vice president of the food Europe division. 'They have developed an innovative product in a short period of time that gives our customers a sustainable solution to use in flow packs for coffee, nuts, savory foods, as well as Stand Up pouches for liquids.’

Hot-embossing technology is used to create the CompresSeal film that has a higher seal integrity than standard polyethylene and weighs up to 30 percent less, while still having the same thickness as standard packaging. In addition, it ensures not only tighter packs, but also constant processing on packaging lines in winter and summer.

The German Packaging Award is an international industry and cross-material award, recognizing innovative and creative packaging ideas in ten different categories. Winners of the Packaging Award are automatically nominated for the WorldStar hosted by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). This year, there were 195 entries from 12 countries in total and an independent jury made up of trade associations, companies, retail and research chose the winners.

‘We would like to thank all participants for their contribution to the German Packaging Award. With their continuous innovative work, they ensure that progress and new added value for users, consumers and the environment continue to thrive,’ said Bettina Horenburg, dvi board member and person overall responsible for the German Packaging Award.
