Austrian flexible packaging supplier Constantia Flexibles Group has completed the acquisition of 100 percent of Globalpack, a leading flexible packaging and folding carton company in Mexico, in a move that expands its footprint in the Americas.

Constantia Flexibles is a flexible packaging group supplying international customers in the food, pet food, pharmaceutical and beverage industries.

Globalpack operates two state-of-the-art production sites in Mexico under the brand names Aluprint, in San Luis Potosí, and Grafo Regia in Monterrey.

Globalpack supplies mainly the fast-moving-consumer-goods industry for food, beverage and non-food products, and has sales of around €180 million, of which 70 percent is flexible packaging and 30 percent is folding carton.

It converts various materials such as plastic films, aluminum foil and paper.

Constantia said the acquisition is part of the international growth strategy of the company, and constitutes a strong basis for further growth and expansion in North and Latin America.

Thomas Unger, chief executive officer of Constantia Flexibles, said: ‘With this transaction we significantly strengthen our market position in North America and will get access to the growing markets in Central America.’
