Downgauging has resulted in a packaging weight reduction of 20 percent
ebeam Technologies, a developer and manufacturer of electron beam (EB) curing systems, and INX International have formed a partnership to boost EB innovation.
INX International offers a range of ink and coating technologies for packaging, digital and commercial printing applications. It is the third largest producer of ink in North America.
Stefano Rogora, sales and marketing manager, INX Digital International, commented: ‘At INX, our mission is to meet our customers’ needs and goals with technological developments and continuous improvement in environmentally clean manufacturing. We are excited to be partnering with ebeam Technologies because its low energy curing process provides a number of important features, such as EB-cured inks having a higher gloss, higher shine finish that is more scratch resistant due to the molecular crosslinking the beaming creates. EB is also “color blind”, so able to cure any color, even metallic, and EB inks are photoinitiator-free.’
INX International is the latest addition to ebeam Technologies’ list of partners intended to boost the development of EB for print and packaging production.
Ebeam Technologies business development manager Elsa Callini stated: ‘ebeam Technologies works with a wide variety of solutions developers to find new ways to help solve print and packaging challenges. INX is a fantastic new addition to our growing partner community and we’re really excited to be working with INX to help bring continued innovation to the print and packaging industry.’
