A new square plastic pet food pack from RPC Superfos featuring in-mold label decoration is providing pet food manufacturers with an alternative to traditional aluminum trays

RPC Superfos said the recloseable pack, available in a 115ml or 100g size for smaller meals, minimizes odors and protects the contents. It also has a UV light barrier protection and an oxygen barrier for extended shelf life.

The use of in-mold labeling to add decoration allows for distinctive shelf presence in a competitive market, RPC Superfos said, with Torben Nielsen, sales director for Italy and Malta within RPC Superfos Region South East, saying: ‘As consumers, we are apt to buy something that looks tasty, healthy and good; not only for ourselves but also for our beloved pets.’

RPC Superfos Region South East covers Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Israel, the Middle East, Albania, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Kosovo, with facilities in France (Besançon) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (Helioplast), and sales offices in Italy and Turkey. Distribution centers are placed in France and Italy.

Nielsen added: ‘With in-mold labeling anything is possible: showing a perfect picture of pet food bites, inserting a clear nutritional table or making the emotional connection through pictures of adorable pets.

‘Whatever their choice, pet food producers get premium printing quality on all surfaces. With this up-to-date packaging solution, RPC Superfos now gives pet food producers the option to move on from the usual aluminum tray.’

A recent report from Freedonia indicated that US demand for pet food packaging is expected to rise 4.8 percent annually to 2.5 billion USD in 2018. Read more through sister publication Packprint World here.
