Labelexpo Europe 2015 is the fifth consecutive year that the flagship show in the group’s portfolio has hosted a dedicated feature area addressing opportunities in package printing. They have grown in strengthen and prominence year-on-year, with 2015 continuing this trend.

This year’s show sees Paul Teachout present a Nilpeter FA-4* for printing unsupported films and flexible packaging, with a multilayer film from Synthogra, consisting of a polyester outer later, thin metallized middle layer and a polyethylene layer on the inside, shown in this instance, whilst Xeikon’s Frank Jacobs followed him by presenting short run folding carton printing using a Xeikon 3500, including four varieties of chocolate packaging that had been personalized.

Nick Coombes, moderating the twice daily workshops, opened proceedings by outlining the potential flexible packaging and folding cartons present to narrow web printers. ‘The label market accounts for 15 percent of the global package printing market, with flexibles and cartons four to five times the size of the label market.

‘As such, the opportunity for label printers to diversify and grow their business is huge.’

Presentations by Nilpeter and Xeikon take place at 11am and 3pm on days two and three of Labelexpo Europe 2015, and at 11am on day four. Xeikon will give an additional presentation on brand protection after the 3pm session.
