Shilp Gravure opts for Kodak Flexcel NX 5080

Shilp Gravures, an electromechanical cylinder engraving company based in Ahmedabad, has invested in India’s first Kodak Flexcel NX Wide 5080 system.

Shilp Gravures is one of the largest gravure cylinder manufacturers in India and diversified to flexography a couple of years ago. The new Flexcel NX system, ordered at at Labelexpo Europe 2017.  will be installed at the company by November.

 Vidhu Gautam, sales director of flexographic packaging division for the Asia-Pacific region at Kodak, said: ‘This is the first time that Shilp Gravures has decided to collaborate with Kodak and grow its business, especially in the space for converting gravure designs for flexography. We are very proud of this development and look forward to more gravure to flexo conversions.’

Talking of the Indian market, Gautam added: ‘We have had a fleet of customers from India at Labelexpo Europe 2017. It is one of the fastest growing flexo markets in the world. There is a lot of growing interest in gravure to flexo conversion. A lot of flexible packaging is also increasingly being done using flexographic technology. Many CI presses are going into the country indicating that flexography and flexible packaging are growing rapidly.’ India has a total of 24 Kodak Flexcel NX systems installed.

Of Labelexpo Europe, Gautam said: ‘Though the name states that it is a show for labels, it is becoming more of a packaging event now. It is a great trade exhibition and has been very successful for Kodak.’
