DG press MachineS has agreed a deal for one its new Thallo variable size web offset presses with Dutch packaging printer Wesselink Drukwerk

A letter of intent was signed by Wesselink Drukwerk at an Open Hose that DG press MachineS staged to promote a 10-color Vision 650mm press to be delivered to Arenz Druck.

Thallo has been designed by DG press MachineS, a sister company of DG press ServiceS and part of the DG press GrouP, to maximize sleeve technology in the package printing market. Sleeve technology in offset allows printers to work with variable sizes, and allows sizes to be easily changed without having to completely change the unit or cassette, said DG press MachineS, and is a recognized way of cost-effectively printing different repeat lengths.

Thallo was introduced at Labelexpo Europe 2013, with a printing unit on display on its stand. The intention is that the press will be delivered to Wesselink Drukwerk at the end of 2014.

Wesselink Drukwerk, located in Lissebroekm, has a long history in the commercial printing market and has slowly converted to printing flexible packaging using offset.

The two-day Open House event included a VSOP user seminar covering waste reduction. Co-organizer Tetra Pak also provided attendees with an insight to its manufacturing processes.

DG press GrouP director Peter Kloppers said: ‘The event was welcomed with great enthusiasm by the attendees that literally travelled from around the world to attend to it.

‘Not only did it provide a great learning opportunity for the attendees, but the feedback during the seminar was of great value to us as a press manufacturer and showed that we are on the right track with the Thallo.’

Kloppers and fellow DG press GrouP director Remko Koolbergen have shared their hopes for 2014, along with other suppliers and supply chain partners, with Packprint World. Read what they had to say here
