COE introduces web-based print data management system

Pre-press specialist Carl Ostermann Erben (COE) has introduced coe center, a web-based print data management system that provides customers with extensive options for data exchange, the approval process and data archiving.

COE manufactures plates, sleeves and screens at locations in Bremen and Stuttgart, with printing plates produced just-in-time, mainly for flexographic and letterpress printing. Its national and international customers include label printers, packaging printers and producers of branded articles. Other customers include producers of flexible packaging, and pharmaceutical and tissue products.

The company said customers will benefit from the transparent approval and archiving processes for their designs, in addition to automated workflows reducing errors and making the approval process ‘smarter’. The entire approval process is said to be more transparent as coe center displays all the steps in real time, and compared with previous processes, the speed of the approval process is increased by up to 25 percent. Customers can also use a professional viewer feature to view, modify or comment on the designs, with coe center’s layout and fast document retrieval facilitating quick recovery of previous print jobs and their reuse.

Michael Halfar, business development manager at COE, explained: ‘Over the past years, we’ve observed a trend in our industry towards automated processes that reduce the time spent preparing the manufacture of printing plates. With coe center, we are providing a platform that greatly simplifies the processes, first and foremost in terms of data management.

‘We’ve already completed a comprehensive testing phase. Some of our customers are already using the platform for their daily work and are very pleased with the web-based data management.’

COE recently expanded its range of services by adding graphic design for packaging and labels, a new service integrated into coe center.

COE will present coe center at Labelexpo Europe 2017, taking place September 25-28 in Brussels, Belgium.
