LSS launches tamper evident labeler

Denmark’s Labelling Systems Scandinavia (LSS) has developed a new tamper evident labeling machine for the pharmaceutical industry.

Starting in early 2019, pharmaceutical serialization will become a legal requirement for companies in the European Union

Being introduced on the Novexx Solutions stand at Pharmapack Europe next month, the LLS Tamper Evident Labeller is in compliance with the European Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) 2011/62/EU. Part of this directive is the requirement for tamper proof security of cartons. The LSS Tamper Evident Labeller seals the carton and an option a printer and vision system of any brand can be integrated to provide each carton with a unique identification for track and trace, and serialization.

The LSS Tamper Evident Labeller has a capacity of up to 300 cartons a minute. It provides tamper proof sealing of reverse tuck end and airplane closing cartons. It can handle cartons ranging from 50mm to 220mm in width, 15mm to 20 mm in height and 40mm to 120mm in length. Both transparent and non-transparent labels can be applied.

A small footprint allows the machine to fit into any production area, and can be used as an off-line or in-line unit.

When entering the LSS Tamper Evident Labeller, each carton’s position and length is registered. The labeller can stop and restart the process at any position and still maintain a safe product register, it is claimed.

Starting in early 2019, pharmaceutical serialization will become a legal requirement for companies in the European Union. In the US, it has been compulsory since November 2017 under the US Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA).

LSS was founded in 2001 as a successor to the labeling machinery division of Avery Dennison. LSS was acquired by Logopak Group in 2014.
