MPS develops 'talk to me' protocol for data exchange between the press and MIS

Dutch press manufacturer MPS Systems has developed ‘talk to me’, a protocol for data exchange between its presses and management information systems.

Press operators can be given access to extended ‘anytime, anywhere’ functionality via a specially developed ‘talk to me’ app, available for any Android or iOS smartphone or tablet

Data to be exchanged from the MIS to the press includes the customer name, press run, color sequence, tooling, material type and thickness, printing plate code and planning. Data from the press to MIS consists of the operator, printing speed, meters/yards printed, waste produced, set-up and printing time.

In addition to the regular MIS interface, press operators can be given access to extended ‘anytime, anywhere’ functionality via a specially developed ‘talk to me’ app, available for any Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.

MPS said the ‘talk to me’ tool delivers real-time information ‘required for companies to be truly productive and remain competitive’.

Bert van den Brink, co-founder and technical director at MPS, commented: ‘Our promise to the market is being “Operator Focused, Results Driven”. The best way to achieve maximum printing productivity is to ensure that operators have the tools and freedom to get the most out of their machines. With “talk to me” we offer just that. I am confident that through constant communication with their printing presses, operators will optimize their performance and, in the process, enjoy increased job satisfaction.’

The ‘talk to me’ concept and app will be premiered at Labelexpo Europe 2017 on September 25-28.
