Xaar extends 2001+ printhead application range

Xaar has extended the capabilities of its 2001+ printhead family to UV print applications, such as printing labels and cartons.

Xaar 2001+ printheads were introduced in 2016 for ceramics applications

Xaar 2001+ printheads were introduced in 2016 for ceramics applications, but with the addition of UV applications a digital press enabled with these printheads can now print at 720 DPI resolution. With the Xaar 2001+ GS6U, it is possible to print 720 x 720 DPI at up to 60m/min line speed (6 pL binary), or 720 x 720 DPI at up to 25m/min line speed (4 grey levels 6, 12, 18 pL).

The Xaar 2001+ incorporates multiple technologies unique to Xaar to ensure continuous and reliable printing in single-pass operation, said to maximize production output, minimize production interruptions and reduce the need for operator intervention. This development, combined with Xaar’s HL technology, means that the Xaar 2001+ GS12U can achieve ‘unprecedented’ laydown levels for tactile effects.

‘HL technology adds a new capability to this very successful product range,’ explained Gerard Winn, senior product manager at Xaar. ‘With minimal work, OEMs can upgrade their existing presses to incorporate the latest technology, and make textured labels and folding cartons much more accessible and affordable for print shops and therefore for their customers too.’
