The XenJet 8100 digital label press launched at Labelexpo Americas combines photo quality UV cure inkjet printing with a range of in-line modular label finishing options, including digital laser cutting.

A collaboration of inkjet integrator Xennia and automation experts ALS Engineering of Germany, this label press enables the print, cut and finish of customized labels in a single pass, offering the flexibility to change on the fly. It is available with multiple modular finishing units and can be configured for specific customer requirements. The XenJet 8100 allows customers to digitally print, laser cut and fully finish variable size / shape labels at speeds of 24m per minute.

As a single integrated press, the XenJet 8100 maximizes space and reduces investment in additional finishing lines. The press includes corona pre-treatment for substrates, the digital print station, UV lamps for pinning and curing. As a modular system the customer can select from a range of ‘bolt-ons’ including reel-to-reel or reel-to-sheet options, laser cutting, varnishing, laminating, slitting, feeding and stacking.

The system runs with the XenJet Vivide UV cure ink range, delivering customized labels on a wide range of plastics, foils, films and coated label stock.

The XenJet 8100 incorporates the XenJet X-plore print engine. This is built around the latest Xaar 1001 grayscale printhead. The modular print engine can be configured for print widths up to 350mm (13.8in) to provide single pass printing at a speed of 24m/min and with apparent grayscale resolution of 1080dpi. Modules can be added to increase the print width up to 1400mm (55in).

The print engine comes complete with Xennia’s proprietary re-circulating ink management system, ensuring single pass reliability with low maintenance.

Powerful software allows users to create print jobs and download images using an intuitive Windows-based user interface. Variable image and data paths are supported to provide full color, ‘real time’ print, laser cut and finishing.
