Clarifoil to continue production at UK site

Celanese Corporation has announced that Clarifoil, the acetate film business of Celanese Acetate, plans to continue to operate at the company’s UK manufacturing facility in Spondon, Derby.

Celanese had previously decided to consolidate its global acetate manufacturing capabilities with the closure of its acetate flake and tow manufacturing operations at the Spondon site. At that time, future operations of the Clarifoil acetate film business at the Spondon site were under review.

Celanese has concluded that Clarifoil will operate as a stand-alone business on its independent site in Spondon after the closure of the acetate flake and tow manufacturing operations. The Clarifoil acetate film business currently employs approximately 70 people at the site.
