Flexcon honors Manufacturing Day

Flexcon has announced its Flex Prep Rotational Training Program’s first graduating class. In light of Manufacturing Day on October 5, this program represents the company’s commitment to training employees from the greater Worcester community to sustain long term growth in Massachusetts.
Flexcon also released an infographic highlighting manufacturing milestones that originated in Massachusetts and have since made a significant national impact.
According to The Manufacturing Institute, more than 80 percent of manufacturers are unable to find skilled talent, leaving more than 500,000 open manufacturing jobs. US manufacturers have an important role in closing this skills gap by offering tools and training that enable current and potential employees to develop the skills necessary to fuel the growth of their organizations and in turn, the US manufacturing industry at large.
Flexcon says its commitment is evident through this graduating class and initiatives such as the recent opening of its new Technology and Innovation Center, and its continuing School Stock Program, which provides local non-profit groups with thousands of dollars in free supplies every year.
‘Flexcon is committed to hiring and retaining educated graduates and professionals that possess Flexcon’s valued qualities of curiosity, a drive for excellence, a passion for work and an affinity to think outside the box,’ said Christine LaPalme, vice president of corporate communications and human resources.
‘We can’t think of a better way to honor US Manufacturing Day than by recognizing the achievements of our Flex Prep associates as they recently graduated from their training program and have been appointed to their new roles within the company. With this program, Flexcon is arming its employees with knowledge and skills that will continue to fuel innovation within the manufacturing industry.’
The Flex Prep program is designed to cultivate the most-qualified graduates with science degrees from area colleges and train them in multiple job functions across Flexcon’s business units, production, sales and marketing. Through this 12 to 18 month program, the Flex Prep associates have gained a holistic view of Flexcon’s daily operations.
