Nordvalls invests in Martin Automatic technology
Scandinavian label group installs sixth MBS splicer to eliminate production bottleneck.
Nordvalls Etikett has installed its sixth Martin Automatic MBS non-stop unwind and splicer system across its group operations, with the most recent installation fitted to an ABG Omega finishing line to clear a production bottleneck created by the Omega running slower than upstream printing presses.
The Swedish label group, which operates production facilities in Sjöbo, Bjuv and Mölnlycke in Sweden and Trondheim in Norway, as well as Watermill Press in Bradford and Kölle Etiketten in Esslingen, generates a combined turnover in excess of 300m EUR per year. The MBS systems are fitted across a variety of Mark Andy and Gallus narrow web flexo lines and ABG Omega machines around the group.
'What we value most of all is the reliable efficiency they bring to our production,' said Patrik Jenemark, group CEO of Nordvalls. 'By allowing us to run the presses non-stop, we produce more per shift, maintain consistently higher quality and significantly reduce the level of wasted substrate. They give us a perfect splice every time, which improves press uptime and reduces operator fatigue.'
Jenemark cited four trends driving Nordvalls' investment strategy: personalization and customization, niche brands, sustainability and regulatory compliance.
'As pressure grows on converters to supply top quality products with shorter lead times, the more the production process can be automated the better,' said Chris Chappel, sales manager at Martin Automatic. 'The reason our relationship with Nordvalls continues to flourish is the simple efficiency of the MBS machine and the quick ROI it offers.'
