Rotocel-Space installs dual Jet D-Screen line
Italian premium label converter takes first Cartes Gemini with dual digital embellishment bars.
Rotocel-Space, an Italian converter specializing in premium labels for wine, spirits, olive oil, beverages and personal care products, has installed a Cartes Gemini line equipped with the dual Jet D-Screen inkjet bar configuration, marking the first installation of this setup worldwide.
Founded in 1980 and diversified into label converting in the 2000s, Rotocel-Space has progressively replaced traditional flexo and offset technologies with digital printing and embellishment systems. The company introduced digital embellishment in 2019 and has continued investing in digital capabilities to serve high-end clients in wine, spirits, cosmetics and other premium markets.
The Gemini line combines flexo varnishing, digital embellishment with the dual Jet D-Screen bar and semi-rotary die-cutting in a single pass, enabling spot varnish, tactile effects, high-build embellishments, Braille and foil application without separating processes. A self-calibrating scanner before the printheads and a three-camera inspection system ensure registration accuracy, while the configuration delivers 30-40 percent energy savings compared with Rotocel-Space's previous digital embellishment technology.
'The ability to perform spot varnishing, Braille and foil application in a single pass means we can evaluate the final output quality from the very first meters,' said Claudio Zola, production manager at Rotocel-Space. 'We have eliminated setup time and rework entirely.'
'The new equipment perfectly complements our digital presses and allows us to provide high-end embellished labels to even small end users,' said Catia Cantelli, CEO of Rotocel-Space. 'Rotocel's project is ambitious: to meet the needs of customers positioned in the medium-high market segment. You simply have to share the vision you have in mind with Cartes, and they are able to make it come true.'
