Converter panel at Labelexpo Americas 2016 looks at new market opportunities

A converter panel discussion during Labelexpo Americas 2016 will feature five successful North American business leaders who each will offer unique insight on a range of topics including new market opportunities in labels and packaging, brand protection and anti-counterfeiting, restructuring a business and more.

Each panelist will bring their own personal experience to the discussion

The panel discussion will be at 9:30-11am on Wednesday, September 14, the second day of the show. Labelexpo Americas 2016 runs from Tuesday, September 13 through Thursday, September 15 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois.

The panelists for this session are: Lori Campbell, chief of operations at The Label Printers; Tara Halpin, owner and president of Steinhauser; Jan Lehigh, president of Alpine Packaging; Sandy Petersen, co-founder and owner of Digital Label Solutions and Michelle Zeller, chief operating officer and chief finance officer of AWT Labels & Packaging. The panel will be moderated by Labels & Labeling North America editor Chelsea McDougall.

Each will bring their own personal experience to the panel discussion, such as Halpin, who took over Steinhauser and completely overhauled the business from a commercial printer to a printed packaging supplier. At the session, she will discuss the results of that restructure.

AWT Labels & Packaging has started Flexo Tech, a series of training courses for future press operators. Zeller can speak about the nonprofit academy and how AWT recognized a need in the labels and packaging industry and found its own solution.

Alpine Packaging, a company with more than 40 years in operation, has focused mainly on tire labels, but recently has expanded into other markets, including food and health and beauty. Lehigh will offer insight into staying competitive in this changing market.

Petersen has had an interesting — albeit unconventional — path into the label and packaging world. She plans to discuss how she took her all-digital print operation from a backroom of a local flexo shop to a top US converter.

Campbell meanwhile is a veteran to the Labelexpo stage, having been asked to speak in the past regarding her work with brand protection and anti-counterfeiting.  She will offer insight for label printers looking to add value to their business in that way.
