Mark Kerridge, managing director of Benson Group, has been named as a Midlands region Entrepreneur of the Year for 2014, as part of the wider EY Entrepreneur of the Year program

The EY Entrepreneur of the Year program is held in more than 145 cities or regions and in more than 60 countries worldwide. It has been held globally for 28 years and for 16 in the UK. In the UK, the program starts locally in a geographic region, followed by a celebration event where the winners are announced, including the overall regional Entrepreneur of the Year. All regional winners then progress to compete at the UK finals on October 6 where the eventual overall UK winner joins the other global country winners in Monte Carlo in June next year to vie for the title of World Entrepreneur of the Year.

The award organizers have recognized Kerridge for transforming Benson from a single-site, 10 million GBP turnover family-run business into a multi-site, 100 million GBP group. The takeover of Benson by Graphic Packaging has recently been completed, signalling the latest stage in Benson’s corporate history.

Kerridge was named as the winner in the Manufacturing & Engineering category for the Midlands region, alongside seven others category winners covering Construction Services to Technology & Innovation. Wayne Martin of GCI was named as Overall Winner for the Midlands, having won the Business & Consumer Services category in the region.

Kerridge’s entry in the regional winners list states that: ‘Mark lives by the mantra of “service, service, service” and embodied this in the culture and values of the company.’
