Beta site for laser engraver

Flexo repro specialist GRS GmbH is the first company to beta test a BDE 4131 direct lasering system for the engraving of polymer materials and elastomers. The machine was jointly developed by STK in Kufstein, Germany, and BASF Printing Systems.

'We are pleased to have found such a competent partner with many years of experience in laser engraving for this -installation,' said Siegfried Rckl (STK), as the system went into operation. Dr. Thomas Telser at BASF Printing Systems, emphasised the importance of practical experience for the success of this ambitious project: 'Laser technology know-how, profound knowledge in the development of polymer materials and practical experience in the engraving of flexo printing forms, these are all crucial factors for the progress of laser engraving.'

GRS has many years experience in the laser engraving of flexo printing forms. Since 1994 they have been operating two systems for the direct engraving of elastomers, which have been modified several times as engraving quality has improved. GRS also processes conventional photopolymer printing plates from BASF on a nyloflex system.
