Supply chain honored at UK Packaging Awards

Suppliers from across the package printing supply chain were honored at last night’s (November 13) UK Packaging Awards 2013.

Presented at an awards ceremony in London, the categories being contested covered design, business performance and strategy, environmental programs and individual excellence.

The Cartonboard Pack of the Year Award was presented to The Sherwood Press Group for its Greggs Giant Cupcake Box project, while the Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year Award was won by Reckitt Benckiser for the Finish Quantum stand-up pack entry.

Iggesund Paperboard claimed the Investment Project of the Year Award for its new biomass power plant at its Workington Mill in the UK.

SME of the Year Award went to Curtis Print & Packaging, Design Team of the Year Award went to Essentra Packaging and the Innovation of the Year Award was given to Design Futures for the Kiroco Handbag entry.

Other winners included Printpack in the Label of the Year category thanks to the Share a Coke project it worked on, and Insignia Technologies claimed the Best New Concept Award for its Embedded Label product, which can be incorporated into a film lid and is activated when the consumer opens the packet, triggering a timer to show a strong color change as the food within loses freshness.
