The future’s digital for Schneller Leupold
German carton converter Schneller Leupold said it sees digital printing as a key part of its future, after installing the first HP Indigo WS6600 digital press for folding cartons.
The WS6600 has been installed with an in-line priming unit, as well as a fully integrated in-line post-processing workflow featuring an AB Graphic Digicon Series 2 line, and a KAMA ProCut flatbed die cutting and creasing unit. HP said the in-line priming unit allows Indigo customers to print on almost all carton types.
Bernd Aßmann, a director at Schneller Leupold, said: ‘From the toothbrush box to high-end confectionary packaging, the HP Indigo WS6600 digital press can produce everything in-line and with only one person running the machine. With this new solution, we can now increase our flexibility even more and we are able to deliver cartons on demand within only 48 hours and with no additional set-up costs.’
He added: ‘We have always invested in the latest technology. Our company wants to focus more on the digital market in the future. We selected the WS6600 digital press as our company’s first digital printing press as we believe the printing quality is no different to offset. The investment in the HP Indigo machine is a strategic move for us, and we have already benefited from it.
‘The future of our business is digital print, and the HP Indigo WS6600 is currently the technology leader in the digital packaging print industry.’
