Brigl & Bergmeister to extend capacity of Slovenia site with new film press

Austrian label and flexible packaging papers producer Brigl & Bergmeister has commissioned Andritz to build a new film press at its site in Vevče, Slovenia that will grow its production capacity by around 20 percent.
The Andritz Group supplies plant, equipment, and services for hydropower stations, the pulp and paper industry, the steel industry, as well as for the production of animal feed and biomass pellets.
Andritz film and size presses are used to apply sizing suspensions and coatings simultaneously to both surfaces of a paper or board web.
Andritz film press
The Andritz PrimeCoat Film is a press for simultaneous double-sided coating and/or sizing of paper and board. Different suspensions and weights can be applied on each side. It can also be used for single-sided applications.
The PrimeAir Glide is a non-contact web floating system installed in paper board machines in combination with film presses. It supports the web on a cushion of air through its angular path.

Capacity boost
The installation will increase annual capacity at the Vevče site by 20,000 tonnes, to 110,000tpa.
The company added that by increasing and improving the initial coat in the paper machine, it will be possible to enhance product quality even further and offer new, innovative solutions for the packaging industry.
This is Brigl & Bergmeister's second major investment since it was acquired by paper trading group Roxcel last year. The first major investment was its acquisition of the Enages thermal energy recovery plant, which supplies power to Brigl & Bergmeister's site in Niklasdorf, Austria.
