Gidue opens its doors for Drupa

Nuova Gidue, an Italian manufacturer of machinery for the packaging and label markets, is to host a “permanent” Open House at the start of May.
The Open House will take place in Florence from May 3-18 and will showcase the company’s technologies for the flexible packaging and label markets. This includes the Master M5 630 digital flexo press (pictured, top) in-line with Gidue’s new Master SL 630 solventless laminator, with dedicated demonstrations being organized to show off the set-up to visitors.
Other flexo lines will also be shown, including: the 10-color Master M5, for an array of substrates; Master M5, dedicated to aluminum pharma blister packs; Combat M3, for labels and sleeves; and the new entry-level M1x for labels.
‘Label converters, well aware of UV flexo technology, could easily enter the lucrative short-run flexible packaging market, with a limited learning curve, and provide excellent UV flexo print quality’
Gidue is not exhibiting at Drupa, taking place May 3-16 in Germany, but is hoping to use the presence of much of the printing industry in Europe for the quadrennial show to attract visitors.
Gidue managing director Federico d’Annunzio said: ‘As usual, Drupa will attract a lot of people from our industry as most specialists in the graphic market will be in Europe to see all the newest trends in our sector.
‘Gidue is excited to welcome visitors to its own event showcasing some interesting solutions specially designed for the label and flexible packaging markets. Dedicated demos can be organized on the Master M5 630 digital flexo press, in-line with Gidue’s totally new development – the Master SL 630 solventless laminator.
‘The combination of UV flexo and in-line solventless lamination is potentially revolutionary for the flexible packaging market. The solution virtually eliminates the risk of ink migration as it avoids any contact of UV inks with the reel, and with the food, by “protecting” the UV printed surface with a laminated film before winding.
