Omet pleased with carton printing and converting seminar

Omet said it was pleased with the response to an in-line carton printing and converting seminar it held at the Sonoco Packaging Institute at Clemson University in South Carolina, in the US towards the end of 2011.
Printing press manufacturer Omet organized the November 2011 educational session with its US office, and in cooperation with the Printing Technology Team at Clemson University and a number of industry partners. The seminar was intended to provide information on available technologies for viable and cost-effective production of cartons and other items using fully integrated in-line solutions.
On the day, comprehensive information on available technologies and materials was provided to the audience regarding an alternative solution to traditional sheet-fed offset and off-line die cutting and stripping. Shawk! gave an introduction to pre-press and color management, while other topics included printing plate choice, rotary die systems, anilox recommendation and selection, and ink formulations. Presenting companies included RotoMetrics, Harper, All Printing Resources and Environmental Inks.
The final session was dedicated to Omet printing, finishing and converting solutions provided by the Varyflex platform. A printing demonstration in Clemson's pressroom was provided to attendees, with a Varyflex 21” press running a variety of carton substrates, including 10 to 26 pt thick stock.
Alberto Redaelli, Omet international sales manager, said: ‘We are really pleased with the opportunity to participate this seminar. It is very important for Omet to let the market know about our long-time experience in manufacturing in-line carton converting system, which is confirmed by the number of installations worldwide, for a variety of applications.’
