Synkcreative invests in Edale 6-color UV Flexo label press
UK company Synkcreative has installed a 6-color Edale Beta UV flexo label press at its 465sqm facility in Manchester. The 330mm wide machine has been brought in to help with the increasing demand for self adhesive label work.
Chris Simmons, managing director of Synkcreative said: ‘We had some issues on one of our previous water-based printing presses meaning that we had to keep halting production to clean down the machine for something as simple as a run of 3,000 labels, so when the decision came for a new machine, it was imperative that we switched to UV drying’.
The Beta modular flexopress is able to run substrates from 50-250 micron and is suitable for both labels and tags. A modular press with a web up design offers the operator a wide viewing area which makes job set up quicker, without minimizing waste.
Simmons hopes the new press will help the two million GBP-turnover company to increase sales by up to 50 percent this year alone. ‘It is an ambitious figure, we know that, but taking into consideration the potential customers that we have waiting on the sidelines for us to invest in this UV machine, I think it is more than achievable,’ he explained.
In recent years, Synkcreative has grown from design agency to a full design, marketing and print outfit. The addition of the Edale press is said to be just the latest in a string of other investments helping to grow the business further. Since Simmons founded the business in 2009, it has grown from two members of staff to a 15-strong team. He commented: ‘If all goes to plan, I would like to continue investing in the business next year, as work increases there will demand for more machinery to help with the short run work.’
Edale’s UK sales manager, Chris Chappel added: ‘We have a long relationship with Synkcreative, and the fact that our second office is on the same business park means we are able to offer a lot of additional support where needed. As well as this, the modular design means any additional upgrades or options can be retrofitted as Synk’s customer demands change, meaning the machine is practically futureproof’.
