Starshine campaign targets sustainability
Joint initiative showcases sustainable metallization technology for label printing.
All4Labels and Actega have launched The Flow, a campaign highlighting Starshine on-demand metallization technology that reduces carbon dioxide emissions by up to 80 percent compared to traditional foil while delivering premium metallic effects for self-adhesive labels.
The campaign demonstrates the capabilities of Starshine, which uses Actega's Ecoleaf technology to apply metallic pigments only where needed on labels. The technology is compatible with flexographic and screen printing processes and is available across multiple All4Labels production sites in Europe, including facilities in the United Kingdom, France and Romania.
'On-demand metallization is an innovative technology that adds another chapter to the collaboration between All4Labels and Actega,' explained Harald Jasper, managing director of Actega Metal Print. 'This technology will reinvent label embellishment by using only the metal flakes where we need them. In addition to the minimized carbon footprint and the reduction of tons of waste, on-demand metallization creates a beautiful metal effect.'

Market research cited in the campaign shows that 83 percent of packaging professionals report their organizations have advanced toward sustainability goals in the past year, while 73 percent indicate consumer demand for eco-friendly packaging has led to sourcing changes. Additionally, over 40 percent of companies plan to adopt innovative and sustainable packaging techniques, with the global sustainable packaging market estimated to reach 423 billion USD by 2029.
'Consumers today are not choosing products, they are choosing the future they want to live in,' noted Paola Iannone, vice president of marketing communications at All4Labels. 'Starshine creates a unique metallic effect optimized for drastically reducing the impacts without compromising on quality and most of all on aesthetic performances. It is not just sustainable, it's smarter, it's cleaner, it's fully recyclable, proven to meet the high industry standards.'
The campaign includes printed samples demonstrating Starshine applications across different market segments, from multi-color finishes for home and personal care products to silver and gold embellishments for wine and spirits labels.
All4Labels and Actega plan to expand the Starshine network by integrating additional on-demand metallization units at key European sites in 2025.
