Gulf Print & Pack 2011, which took place on March 14-17 in Dubai, was attended by 8,187 visitors, a nine percent increase on the previous edition. Visitors came from 83 countries (65 in 2009) and 36 percent of the overall attendance was from outside the United Arab Emirates (30 percent in 2009) – indicators of the industry’s growth across the region. By the end of the show, 56 percent of available exhibition space had been rebooked.

This was the first edition of the show to be organized by the team behind the Labelexpo Global Series, which has also announced that a new conference and table-top exhibition for the package printing industry, called Pack Print Summit, will take place in Dubai in November 2012.

Gulf Print & Pack 2011 was notable for the strong sales on the show floor. Canon, exhibiting alongside Océ, secured several contracts early in the show, including one for over USD $500,000. A highlight was the afternoon seminar program, focused on three main topics – security and anti-counterfeiting, digital solutions and package printing/converting. Most of the sessions had only standing room remaining.

Roger Pellow, managing director of Gulf Print & Pack, said: ‘We are very pleased with the feedback from the show. Gulf Print & Pack exceeded expectations by attracting printers in greater numbers and from more countries than before, emphasizing the strong growth in the region. The number of large business deals concluded at the show is very encouraging and a sign of good things to come.’
