Euro Pool recommends Herma labels for reusable boxes

Dutch logistics service provider of reusable packaging in the European fresh food supply chain, Euro Pool System, has added two Herma self-adhesive label materials to its customers’ recommendation list.

Euro Pool System has added two Herma self-adhesive label materials to its customers’ recommendation list

Euro Pool’s customers include producers, transport companies, and processing companies. It offers so-called pooling services for the efficient and reliable transport of fresh goods, such as fruit and vegetables, bananas, meat, fish, seafood, eggs, and baked goods.

The company uses reusable and folding plastic crates, which are in circulation for more than seven years and are therefore significantly more sustainable than disposable alternatives. After each journey, the crates are checked, cleaned, and left with the next customer for reuse. This aims to ensure that no third-party labels are found on the crates. The company recommends to its customers a selection of self-adhesive materials for labels, which are subject to strict criteria for the labeling of reusable boxes.

‘Our adhesive 62P has proven itself in practice as the label can be removed easily without leaving any residue,’ commented Marcus Gablowski, head of adhesive and special coating development at Herma. ‘The customer therefore no longer needs to do additional cleaning work as crates with labels firmly stuck to them either require costly treatment or need to be sorted out.’

The Herma labels are removed from crates with hot water, high pressure, and highly effective cleaning agents. The adhesive 62P remains intact on the label, which is removed with dirty water. This means that no adhesive residue sticks to the crates.

‘We are pleased that our innovative self-adhesive materials are also proving their worth in practice,’ added Gablowski. ‘In this way, we are helping logistics providers like Euro Pool System to further improve their environmentally sound reusable systems in order to ultimately contribute to a reduction in the carbon footprint of producers, transport companies, and processing companies. Sustainable, reusable systems are the future of the packaging industry.’
