GSE introduces the InkConnection blog

GSE has launched a blog to help professionals in the label and packaging sectors maximize value from managing inks

Ink logistics provider GSE has launched a blog to help professionals in the label and packaging sectors maximize value from managing inks.

The InkConnection blog, aimed at converters, ink manufacturers and brand owners, will be a definitive guide to stamping out waste, assuring quality, and creating a culture of continuous improvement through lean and smart ways of working.

Maarten Hummelen, marketing director of GSE, commented: ‘Handling and processing ink can be a source of significant lost value to label and packaging printers. The value chains are increasingly service-oriented, and it is necessary to comply with ever more stringent color quality standards and safety legislation. That means controlling and digitizing processes is the key to staying competitive.

‘The InkConnection blog will be a guide to best practice at every step where ink is handled in the value chain. Today’s ink logistics technologies, including dispensing, proofing, and software packages, provide solutions for repeatable color quality, increased press uptime, waste elimination, tracing raw materials, and the simplification of processes from purchasing to inventory management.

‘The blog will provide suppliers the roadmap for achieving best-in-class manufacturing status by exploiting these technologies along with Lean and Smart practices. The articles we’ll be posting will show how.’

InkConnection will provide guidance on managing all ink sets commonly used for labels and packaging, including flexo, gravure, screen, offset, letterpress processes. The first series of posts will look at implementing lean manufacturing and management techniques in the converting house to create a culture of continuous improvement.
