The product handling systems into which the applicators were integrated were designed and installed within a very short time by Hanshin Labelling, Herma’s sales partner in the Republic of Korea, with a particular focus on these requirements.

Bioneer was the first Korean biotechnology company in 1991, and it is now an internationally active specialist in molecular biology products and technologies. When labeling Bioneer test kits, the applicators not only have to apply a label to the side of the boxes, but also a top label that is almost 300 millimeters long. It closes the lid on the front and back, so in addition to labeling it also takes on a tamper-evident function.

The interaction between the labeler and the product handling system must be perfectly coordinated, also with regard to speed synchronization – especially given the fact that these are quite large labels. This is the only way to ensure that the label is applied without creases or wrinkles and without any offset.

Hee Chul Lee, CEO at Hanshin Labelling, explained: ‘The Herma basic is perfectly suited for this task with its high repeat performance. The reason we chose Herma out of all the suppliers worldwide is the very high level of trust we have in the company. It is tremendously competent and the performance of the applicator is perfect for this application.’ Bioneer currently labels and seals 40 boxes per minute per line.

The Herma basic was specially developed to solve standard tasks as a robust applicator with great economy and precision.

Christoph Illichmann, head of Area Sales at Herma Labeling Machines, said: ‘Manufactured on the same production lines and to the same strict quality standards as the Herma 500 high-performance applicators, the Herma basic is also distinguished by its reliability and process safety. These are important criteria, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector.’

The simple integration, uncomplicated operation and ease of maintenance of the applicators have made a decisive contribution to commissioning the labeling lines in the shortest possible time and ensuring their smooth operation.
